The Valley Weekly Recap: Jax Skips Hawaii; Girl’s Night Drama

This week on Bravo’s The Valley, tensions with the group came to a head just before they headed off to Hawaii. Jax decided to forego the Aloha state due to drama with Britney. Meanwhile, Danny and Nia come to an uneasy truce with Janet and Jason in Hawaii.

To Invite or Not to Invite?

Danny and Nia meet Zack and Benji for lunch to discuss the Hawaii trip, as they are the only ones who know about the proposal. Zack reveals that he and Benji have moved in together, and he’s glad to have someone who’s good in the kitchen.

“I almost burned down the apartment cooking noodles,” Zack shares in a confessional.

The four of them discuss the invite list for the trip to Hawaii. They decide it’s best to invite everyone, including Janet and Jason, but Danny and Nia can’t be the ones to invite them due to their issues. They want everyone else to believe it’s Danny and Nia’s trip, and since it wouldn’t make sense for them to invite Janet and Jason, they ask Zack to invite them. Ironically, Zack and Janet were recently at odds partly because of Janet not inviting him and Kristen to a vacation. The irony was certainly not lost on Zack.

“I think it’s pretty ironic that Janet had a trip that Kristen and I weren’t invited to, and now this year I’m inviting Janet to a trip that’s all about Kristen,” Zack says in a confessional.

Zack jokes in a confessional, “Alanis Morrisette, I think we got some new lyrics for you.”

Clearing Lists

Jesse invites Jax, Jason, Danny, and Luke over to his place for a “men’s mental health” meeting led by his “life coach,” Scott. The idea is to get all their negative feelings and frustrations off their chests. Scott calls this “clearing lists”: one of them puts their hand on another guy’s chest, saying how they fell, while the other remains silent.

Naturally, Danny clears his list with Jason. He apologizes for the way he spoke to Janet at the bar the previous week, and for how his drinking affects his behavior. Jason accepts his apology and is proud of him for owning his actions, but still wants to take this one step at a time.

“Admitting what Danny is admitting is a huge step forward because I think he’s not only admitting it to us, he’s admitting it to himself as well,” Jason said in a confessional.

Tacos and Tears

The girls meet for what’s supposed to be a casual girls’ night out at El Coyote, but the tequila goes straight to Janet’s head. First, Michelle confronts Kristen about intervening in her relationship with Aaron by telling Jesse about Aaron’s past with Jenna. The conversation then turns toward Janet and Nia when Janet brings up Kristen intervening in her marriage, to which Kristen responds that her issues with Michelle are none of Janet’s business and Nia adds that Janet “loves the drama”.

Nia adds in a confessional, talking about Janet, “She just focuses on everyone else’s marriage or relationship, and I never hear about her marriage or how she’s doing. It’s interesting.”

Kristen feels disrespected by both Janet and Michelle and leaves the restaurant, followed shortly by Nia, who starts crying. Janet is quick to point out that Nia loves to cry when situations get “tough.”

“See ya, get your to-go box, bye,” Janet drunkenly screams at Kristen as she exits.

“I don’t even recognize who Janet is. She’s not the friend I used to know,” Nia says in a confessional.

Nia concludes, “If she keeps pushing me and attacking me, I don’t know if we’re going to be able to have a friendship at all.”

Not Putting Up With It

Brittany and Jax had plans to meet for lunch to discuss their plans now that he’s out of rehab, but Brittany doesn’t show up because she heard he was drunk the night before, even though he just got back from rehab where he was supposed to be “working on himself.”

“He was just supposed to work on himself for 30 days, and as soon as he gets out, he goes to the bar. I’m not putting up with that anymore,” Brittany says in a confessional.

Jax says in a confessional, “We are getting divorced. We are no longer together. So, what I do on my own time is my business.”

He then confesses in the car that Brittany was right, and he was at the bar the night before.

Aloha, Peace?

The group arrives in Hawaii at the end of the episode. Jason and Danny want the girls to make peace just as they have. Janet apologizes for yelling at Nia, saying she had too much to drink. Nia forgives her but is happy to point out the hypocrisy. At the end, the girls come to an uneasy truce.

It’s unhonestly a little hard for me to read if Janet is being genuine. I do have a guard up. I’m not going to let someone walk all over me and hurt me. After a few times, it’s going to be a wall up for sure,” Nia says in a confessional.

The episode ends with Jesse confronting Aaron to finally clear up what happened with Michelle while they were still married and confirm his suspicions. Fans will have to wait until the next episode to see how it all plays out.
