The first Monday in May has come and gone. That’s right, the Met Gala is already over. Fashion’s biggest night was graced by the presence of several celebrities who clearly understood the assignment. The theme for this year’s Gala was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, supporting the upcoming Metropolitan Museum of Art high fashion art exhibition of the same name. The dress code: “tailored for you”.
Sponsored by Louis Vuitton, this year’s Gala supports Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a high fashion art exhibition of the Anna Wintour Costume Center, a wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art which houses the collection of the Costume Institute. The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
Met Gala 2025 Best Looks
While the Met Gala is a private and exclusive event, the Red Carpet that precedes it is a highly anticipated fashion and pop-culture spectacle. Fashion critics and media outlets keep close eyes on the Gala to stay up-to-date on what celebs will be attending, and more importantly, what they’re wearing. The following celebs won our pick for the best looks of the 2025 Met Gala.
Charli XCX

Charli XCX has had a big year. So far, she’s performed at Coachella, where she didn’t just showcase her vocal talent, but her fierce style as well. Maintaining the theme of her latest studio album, Brat (2024), the singer dressed as a “Brat Swan” in a Feathered Suit and Headpiece.
Cardi B

Cardi B wore a green Burberry suit with a sheer undershirt, a plunging neckline, and a pear-shaped diamond pendant necklace and dangling earrings. Her look also included a new hairstyle, green eye shadow, and green nails. Cardi B’s look reflected the theme’s focus on the evolution of Black men’s style.
Kylie Jenner

Leaning into this year’s theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the Kylie Cosmetics founder stunned at the 2025 Met Gala in a figure-hugging halter dress from Ferragamo featuring a sheer bodice and long tweed skirt with a high slit. Jenner and her family are known for their frequent Met Gala appearances. The reality star marked her Met debut in 2016 at just 18 years old, stunning in a sparkling Balmain gown.
Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner graced the Met Gala Red Carpet in gray skirt suit by Torishéju, complete with a peplum-style, tie-back top, and plunging neckline. A relatively unknown tailor from London, it was the model’s wish to support “the next generation of black excellence” by wearing Torishéju’s piece. The reality star embellished her office-siren attire with an exrta-large diamond statement necklace from Chopard dripping down her décolletage, sporting brown locks with a slight wave, and went for a subtle glam look with natural, dewy makeup.
Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian turns heads every time she graces a Red Carpet, especially at the Met Gala. This year was no exception. The Skims founder created a buzz with her black leather Chrome Hearts dress and matching fedora at this year’s gala. Opting for natural glam and letting her platinum locks down in simple waves, Kardashian elevated the look by fitting her waist into a small corset and draping a short, grey sweater over her shoulders. While her look certainly can’t be described as boring, it’s actually one of her tamer Met Gala ensembles, compared to her blonde debut in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress in 2022 and her faceless, all-black outfit with then husband Kanye West in 2021.
Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan went full “Pink Pony Club” for her Met Gala debut with an all-pink ensemble. The singer wore a bright pink suit covered in a sparkling patchwork of different shades of pink and gold. She opted to wear her long red hair down and paired her fit with a daring eye makeup look that included pink tear tracks down her face.
Hailey Bieber

Following a three year absence, Hailey Bieber marked her return to the Met Gala without husband Justin Bieber, four years after being heckled by fans of her husband’s ex, Selena Gomez, at the 2021 Gala. Bieber made it clear she meant business with her return. The model hit the red carpet in a Saint Laurent mini blazer dress, paired with platform peep toe heels and glittering jewelry while sporting heavy contour.
Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus wore a custom Alaïa by Pieter Mulier and jewelry by Cartier, including a stacked three-ring necklace. The outfit is a mixture of textures, with a revealing leather crop top and a tailored skirt that pleats out at the bottom. On the Vogue event’s red carpet, the singer said the theme means “celebrating identity and uniqueness” and “challenging what’s expected of you and going beyond”.
Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey wore a Valentino ballgown with a drop waist and towering feather detail and posed alongside Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele. Her husband Jeffrey Dufrene, a tour boat captain whom she married last September, was not in attendance, but she nodded to him with her hair accessories: a pair of alligator hair clips. The musician adorned her chic, curled up-do with the clips, which resembled realistic, miniature versions of the animals.
Zendaya

Zendaya fittingly marked her first Met as a fiance in an all-white three-piece custom Louis Vuitton zoot suit designed by Pharrell Williams, complete with a matching tie, wide-brimmed hat and sparkling brooch pinned below her back collar. She opted for a pop of color with her nails, which were painted red and helped to show off her new sparkling engagement ring. Her outfit followed the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and dress code of “Tailored for You” as her custom Louis Vuitton ensemble fit like a glove.
Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer arrived at the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet wearing an oversized black Prada suit. The Euphoria star’s outfit played with proportions, pairing her oversized suit with perfectly fitted flared pants. Schafer topped off the look with a white hat, following the dress code “tailored for you” perfectly while still adding her own flair.
Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney arrived at fashion’s biggest night in Miu Miu, wearing a curve-hugging, sparkling black gown designed with beaded fringe down the sleeves, bodice and skirt. The design also featured a daring cleavage-baring keyhole cutout adorned with a gold flower embellishment. She teamed the look with glittering De Beers diamonds, including a 9-carat ring she designed and purchased herself, according to a release from the brand. She wore that ring on her right hand, which, given the brand’s famous “Right Hand Ring” campaign, seemed to possibly be in response to her recent split from former fiancé Jonathan Davino. She said her outfit was a nod to Kim Novak, whom she plays in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut Scandalous!, about her relationship with Sammy Davis, Jr. in the 1950s.
Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter pulled up to the Met Gala in a pantless Louis Vuitton look. The burgundy, tuxedo-style look came complete with glittery buttons and a white collar. The “espresso” singer accessorized with plenty of diamonds — she wore necklaces, rings, and even an anklet. She also paired the outfit with “super-high shoes,” which she described as a “staple for me in my life.” This is Carpenter’s third “taste” of the Met Gala, as she attended the event in 2022 and 2024.
Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion’s Met Gala look this year included a high three-tiered ponytail, inspired by actress Josephine Baker. An activist and performer, Baker was the first Black actress to star in a film in the 1920s — and she is a major figure for Dandyism, the Met Gala theme this year. The Grammy-winning rapper completed her look with a va-va-voom gown designed by Michael Kors, featuring halterneck straps, a sweetheart neckline, a thigh-high leg slit, and glitzy silver sparkles. As if that weren’t enough, Megan made sure to up the ante in a massive white fur coat, which trailed behind her. She generated even more buzz when she infamously broke the “no phones” rule by posting a Met Gala food review in an Instagram video.
Doja Cat

Doja Cat arrived at the 2025 Met Gala wearing a pinstripe bodysuit by Marc Jacobs featuring structured shoulders and hips. The ensemble also included sheer black tights, a bodice printed with a symbolic feline pattern, and custom ankle boots with rows of buckles and a tall platform. Doja Cat opted for more colorful glam, with a lilac eye look and a sharp red lip, and accessorized with an array of bold jewelry and long, gold stiletto nails.
Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway arrived at the 2025 Met Gala dressed in a Carolina Herrera ensemble paying tribute to André Leon Talley. Hathaway wore a crisp white shirt paired with a studded striped column skirt and a necklace adorned with a massive gemstone. Her glam consisted of a high voluminous ponytail accessorized with a headband and makeup topped with a bright pink lip.
Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj stepped out in style at the 2025 Met Gala wearing a form-fitting Thom Browne dress. Her pinstripe suit dress — a common thread between this year’s attendees — featured a wide neckline with bold white stripes, and a mermaid skirt with a thinner pinstripe pattern. A collection of ruffled flowers cascaded over her right shoulder and down her back. Minaj piled her hair high in a curly up-do and included a gold headpiece to complete the look. She added a pop of color with her bright blue nails, keeping her glam simple with a warm, smoky eye and nude lip.
Rihanna

Rihanna is the queen of pregnancy surprises. As we previously mentioned, the singer announced her second pregnancy during her performance at the halftime show of Super Bowl LVII, and revealed her current pregnancy with partner and Met Gala co-chair A$AP Rocky at this year’s Red Carpet. Rihanna stunned with a custom-tailored suit gown courtesy of Marc Jacobs, with her hair pulled into an extra-long ponytail accompanied by minimal accessories, allowing the rest of her glam and outfit to shine. Her makeup featured a soft brown smoky eye and sculpted cheeks, all in warm tones to keep the look cohesive, and her nails were cut and filed into a short coffin shape, then painted a translucent pink shade, which paired perfectly with the black-and-white ensemble. It wasn’t enough for Rihanna, whose career spans almost 20 years, to slay with her fit, she had to shock the world while doing so, which is why she takes the spot for the Best Met Gala look for 2025.
