It has been reported that X-Men ‘97 was delayed due to rewrites after the firing of series creator and head writer, Beau DeMayo. Back in July 2022, X-Men ‘97 was confirmed for season two, and DeMayo completed writing its script in March 2024. After completing the writing for season two and starting season three, Demayo was unexpectedly fired from Marvel Studios before the premiere of season one. Matthew Chauncey, who has previously worked on Marvel’s What If…?, has been announced as the new writer for season three and has been assigned to rework the drafts Beau DeMayo had written for the show. However, it is unclear whether or not Chauncey reworked the writing for season two.
