Waits nervously for her transactions to go through
Hello, lovely internet women! You are either a broke bougie broad like me or you envy expensive makeup if you are reading this. Although officially indigent and reliant on Swiggy Plus member discounts, my kind does not appear to be so. We appear to lead a life of affluence because of our chic thrift store outfits and shared rides with other broke people. And as a beauty journalist who enjoys bingeing on fashion items, I display flawless restraint in my purchases. For instance, I use excessive amounts of drugstore items to keep my skin healthy. But I want to top it off with delicious, luxurious makeup to seem like a real-life editorial shoot. I reserve my meagre writer’s wage for the best purchases, so they must be carefully chosen and have greater significance than a few of my relationships!
Here is a selection of the luxury makeup I keep in my makeup vanity…
1. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Revolution Lipsticks

I haven’t heard the last of this since Alia Bhatt wore one of these to her wedding. I put off investing in a high-end lipstick for the longest time since I knew that my wonderful tints from home would do the trick. I was most startled by this one when I finally gave in. As a lipstick novice, I didn’t feel overwhelmed by the buttery texture, which is almost like a balm, and it turned out to be the ideal nude colour for me. This one quickly became a favourite among Indian women who struggle to locate their ideal nudes.
2. Pat McGrath LABS Mothership Eyeshadow Palettes

My domestic makeup buddies and I have been daydreaming about Pat to India. The brand’s muses, the most recent of which was Julia Fox, are what first sparked my infatuation with the company and the great makeup artist who created it. To enjoy the inventiveness of the eponymous brand rather than stand out, I want to be one of the women sporting the Pat eye style. The vibrant palettes are not your typical makeup palettes. I could happily be homeless if this person, who likes to add shock value to her appearance, claimed half of my rent!
3. Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation

On a fortuitous FAM trip where I met several other beauty writers, I picked this one up at the airport. After a few hours of guilt-filled aeroplane sleeps, I ultimately fell in love with the lotion after application. Hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid are only two of the elements in the mix that are good for the skin. Additionally, the medium coverage and satin-matte finish let your natural skin colour shine through. It became a foundation staple after receiving numerous compliments on how well done my makeup was from beauty journalists.
4. Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings Like A Pro

After having my eyebrows microbladed and seeing the beauty of perfectly arched brows, my obsession with snatched brows on the move has intensified. So the greatest must be used to create on-the-go makeup that is stocked with basics. Benefits’ Brow Zings palette, widely regarded as the best brow brand in the world, includes wax and powder formulations to help me get the best-featured brows of my life.
5. DIOR Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume HD Mascara

One of the best packages in my makeup vanity is this supermodel favourite, which is listed on the majority of “Best Mascaras” lists. Rubber is squeezable, allowing you to warm up the mixture before applying it and preventing “clumpiana” mishaps. This waterproof formula is also one of the only mascaras that held up to the torrent of tears throughout the final Avengers movie, and I am sticking with it because I cry easily.
6. Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi Use Sculpting Concealer

I made it clear that I do not like concealer. My earliest concealer trials resulted in dubious blurry Instagram photos with distinct contour lines exposed for public judgement. Up until I got my hands on this Too Faced beauty, I managed to prevent a concealer comeback. Their lip plumper was already one of my favourites, but this concealer is just what I need for flawless coverage.
7. Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Blush

My generation used to pretend to be Bratz dolls in gym class by purchasing cheap skin colours from craft stores. I’m all for any solution that can capture the flush of colour that practically melts into your skin. If there is a built-in brush included, my lazy arse will gladly sign up for a lifetime subscription. Because of this, ABH’s stick blushes are a constant on my vanity.
