
When you think about the game about basketball, the first thing you would think about is Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan was not just any basketball player; he had become a symbol of the sport. A symbol that people still talk about to this day as he was known for being one of the most vicious and tenacious scorers in NBA history.
A product out of the University of North Carolina, Jordan was taken third overall by the Chicago Bulls in the in a stacked 1984 NBA Draft. That draft also included Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton.
When Michael Jordan came in, he started to slowly change the landscape of basketball as he also was playing in an era dominated by the centers of basketball. Jordan was a non-stop scoring machine who could shoot and attack the paint.
Jordan went on to be a five-time MVP and a six-time NBA Champion while creating one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history alongside Scottie Pippen. The Bulls dominated the league for a large part of the 1990’s.
Michael Jordan also went on to be a symbol of Nike as the Jordan brand is one of the most popular products in the world, Nike has made strong sales thanks to the brand selling the Jordan Sneakers which have turned into one of the biggest fashion footwears in the world.
There was a period where Jordan had a brief retirement from the league in the mid 90’s and also pursued a baseball career with the Chicago White Sox, during a period where his father had passed.
Jordan returned to another three championships and proceeded to retire once again. In 2001 Jordan had returned to the Washington Wizards for two seasons in an attempt to help out the team. Jordan had also been the owner of the Charlotte Hornets for many years.
Many still consider Jordan to be the greatest of all time thanks to his style of play and his symbolism to the game. Jordan still has many records that have yet to be broken. Jordan created a legacy. that is hard to recreate.
