On May 1, Amazon Prime Video released Another Simple Favor, a sequel to the 2018 theatrical film A Simple Favor. Another Simple Favor sees Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick return to their costarring roles as Emily Nelson and Stephanie Smothers respectively. Other returning cast members include Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, and Ian Ho, while Michele Morrone, Elena Sofia Ricci, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, and Allison Janney join the cast.

Emily Nelson is released from prison, disrupting the life of her former friend Stephanie Smothers. Stephanie is much more secure of herself in the sequel, but she still fears and Emily despite her efforts to hide it. Emily blackmails Stephanie into joining her for a trip to Capri, where she plans to marry a wealthy businessman, Dante Versano (Michael Morrone) and have Emily as her maid of honor. Through this, Stephanie and Emily form an uneasy alliance and friendship. Things take a dramatic turn when someone ends up dead, and Stephanie begins to suspect the trip is part of an elaborate revenge by Emily.
Another Simple Favor Highlights
The strongest performances in A Simple Favor were given by its two leading ladies, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. The directors struck lightening in a bottle with this pairing in the original film over six years ago, and it’s as if no time has past since then. The magic in this film lies in both their individual strengths as performers and chemistry as actors. Lively nails her role as a villain, but she still remains likable enough that the audience can’t help but root for her. Kendrick is the perfect choice for the film’s protagonist, but shows her range in this sequel as plays a character willing to scheme and get her hands dirty when she needs.
Another Simple Favor Final Thoughts
While Another Simple Favor may not live up to the success of its predecessor (a tough feat to make) it’s still worth a watch. Conveniently, it’s included on Prime Video with an Amazon Prime subscription and available to watch whenever, so audiences don’t have to worry about paying for a movie ticket just to see it once. Lively and Kendrick shine in any project they’re in, separately or together, so it’s safe to assume audiences will be entertained.
