The islanders from Love Island USA’s sixth season will return to screens this summer with the premiere of ‘Love Island: Beyond The Villa.’ The new series ordered by Peacock finds the cast in Los Angeles a year later navigating their newfound fame, friendships and careers.
The cast includes season 6 winner Serena Page joined by the rest of her PPG crew, JaNa Craig and Leah Kateb. Other cast members scheduled to appear are Aaron Evans, Miguel Harichi, Kaylor Martin, Connor Newsum, Kenny Rodriguez, Olivia Walker, and Kendall Washington. Fans were quick to notice Kordell Beckham and Robert Rausch were absent from the cast, but Peacock has assured fans other former islanders will make guest appearances throughout the season.
Season 6 of Love Island USA captured fans with its charismatic cast, shocking recouplings and portrayal of female friendships. The season became so popular it became the most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. during the second week of July.
Fans have gotten glimpses into the islanders’ lives outside the villa on social media, but hopefully the series gives a deeper look. In anticipation of the series’ premiere, here’s 5 things we hope to see.
- A Kordell appearance
The series wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Kordell Beckham. Fans quickly took a strong liking to Kordell after seeing his lighthearted humor and dedication to Serena. Fans became attached to the couple as they watched Serena and Kordell grow from friends to romantic partners. Their relationship hit a bump when Kordell chose to explore other connections in Casa Amor leading Serena to chastise Kordell after the infamous movie night telling him, “You think that you’re about to have your cake and eat it, too, and cater to both of us. No, baby, you made your choice. You made your bed,” complete with hand gestures. Later, viewers related to Serena as she tearfully explained her disappointment and ended the relationship. Luckily, Kordell didn’t give up and the couple reunited! We’re excited to see Kordell and Serena together and know Kordell’s jokes will help alleviate some of the show’s drama.
- Kaylor, without Aaron
Kaylor and Aaron had a quick and tumultuous relationship from coupling up on day one and staying together until Aaron returned from Casa Amor. Kaylor eventually forgave Aaron, but ended the relationship after watching the season and seeing the extent of Aaron’s betrayal. Fans are nervous Kaylor will give in to Aaron (like she has before) if they’re in the same house again. She has shared her personal growth with confidence on social media which has gained her a lot of support and another go round with Aaron might ruin it all. Last week, a clip of Liv and Kaylor arguing at a Peacock party went viral leading fans to believe Kaylor’s relationship with Aaron is the cause. We hope Kaylor stands her ground.
- Leah’s dry humor
Leah Kateb became a fan favorite early in the season for her dry humor and inability to hold back. After a challenge forced the couples to guess what cast member tweets were written about, Leah delivered her now famous quote, “Whatever you’ve heard about me, times it by a million, and if you think it’s bad, make it worse.” Fans appreciated Leah’s confidence and her ability to defend herself when in drama.
- A reunion between PPG and Liv and Kaylor
From week 1 in the villa, Serena, Leah and JaNa bonded and named their girl group ‘PPG’ after the Powerpuff Girls. Their blossoming friendship and loyalty to each other was the highlight of the season. While Liv and Kaylor were their own dynamic duo, all the girls formed friendships. Leah and Liv had their own drama but were able to resolve it quickly, but fans have spotted Leah missing when Liv and Kaylor reunite with the rest of PPG. We’re excited to see how the girls interact and address any lingering drama.
- Leah and Miguel’s relationship
Leah and Miguel coupled up mid-way through the season, but were crowned as the season’s runners-up. After the finale, Leah appeared on Tana Mongeau’s Cancelled podcast saying, “He’s my boo. I feel like we just have such a special bond. I just feel like if you guys saw the whole thing pan out you would get it.” Leah went on to share how the producers downplayed her emotions throughout filming and purposely didn’t show fans enough of her and Miguel’s developing relationship. Hopefully we get a better look this season!
